There is now compulsary 6 months training for all. There is no change in the syllabus. Just that you now have 2 streams instead of 1. But ya, the good thing is that you have cleared training if you clear the first stream. That means, you wont be asked to leave if you dont score well in the second stream. And that also means that if you dont have a CGPA of 4 at the end of first stream, you wont get a chance to improve your scores in the second stream and will be asked to leave.
As is obvious, no choice for the second stream. You will have to study what they offer you.
The second stream that you undergo is equivalent to PR201 certificate. You will learn about that after you join. Infosys employees have to appear for a fixed number of certifications every year and this is one of them.
Earlier, you could not bring alcohol in the campus, but now, they have made the rule more strict by stating that noone can even enter the campus when he/she is drunk. As you may be already knowing, you will be asked to leave the hostel if you dont follow this rule. Some people who arrived drunk on 31st Dec have been already made to leave hostel.

You dont have to pay anything if they make you leave. As in if you dont pass training. They support many MTech, MS and PhD programmes also whose list you will get after you join. But ya, they sponsor MBA programs the most.
Usually they dont come chasing you to ask for bond amount if you go for higher studies. But if they come to know that you have joined some rival company then they will ask for bond amount.
I am sure that it is mentioned clearly in the service agreement but you can send the part which you didnt understand.
No yaar, why do we have to pay them if they want us to leave?

And are you sure if anybuddy leave infosys during bond period and join any non-rival companies then he dont have to pay bond amount??

They never say it but it holds true. One person from my generic class who was also selected in Reliance had his joining on sept 26. So he joined with us on july 21 and then knowingly failed in easy subjects and went to the HR and resigned. He didnt have to pay any bond amount...
So know this: "You can resign during training".

These topics are not in the syllabus...
Only creating and querying tables is enough for RDBMS in generic...
SQL/PL-SQL is just a part of Oracle which is a module in Java stream.

No, man.. Dont believe the press. After joining Infosys, I came to know how even the smallest changes are hyped up by the media to earn publicity. Infosys doesnt demand money from you in any way. Except if you break the bond, there is no rule which makes you pay Infosys any money.

No, there is no difference AT ALL. Each criteria is the same for everyone. Doesnt matter if you are a small unknown college or from IIT. Doesnt matter if you are from mechanical or have done MTech in IT.

Learn C language well before joining. Other than that, you will have to work hard there to ensure a high score in tests. Before joining, learning C language is enough

Yes, you can. But if there are bomb blasts or something going on in the country then visitors are banned. They can get a visitor pass which is valid for 3 hrs.

You just need to apply for an extension. There is no big problem. Just tell them that your exams would not have been over by that time and so you need an extension of DOJ. But ya, the new DOJ will be about March 2010 as per tradition.

You can squeeze 2 hrs for CAT prep if you plan well. One of my friends got 94%ile this year. We too had training going on from July-Dec.
But ya, CAT can come next year, every year but not infosys. IIMs and Infosys have the same rate of selecting candidates from total applicants i.e. less than 1%. So really speaking, its better if you stop worrying and even preparing for CAT this year and try next year. You will get a feel of training in about a month or so. You can then decide whether to prepare for CAT or not.
Yes, training period is extended. Only those people who are given training for SAP are shifted to Hyd after first stream. For them too, the generic and first stream are at Mysore itself.

Yes, there are several changes in training from batches joining from 23rd March 2009.
Training program undergoes review every year and so minor to major changes are bound to happen every year.
I think salary for 2009 passouts is 10% higher than that of 2008 batch. For us it was 2.7 lakhs but it is 3.0 lakhs per annum for 2009 passouts.

Getting a late DOJ is not soo much unfortunate as you take it to be. You sound as if you had to leave infosys with a CGPA of 3.99 . You can prepare for certifications like SCJP, CCNA etc.
FYI, my college mates selected in Wipro have got DOJ 29 Dec 2009. That is 1.5 years after graduating.

hey chinthan.i hav my doj in oct. yesterday our s8 results were published and i got a backlog.we will be having the next exam in dec only.wat should i do. can i apply for extension stating that i hav backlog.is it a safe option.what are the genuine reasons for which they give u extension.and if u get extension then can i join before my results are published or can i join with an awaiting result??

You will have to apply for extension. You have got a backlog and that is a genuine reason.
They surely dont allow pending exams but i think they are not allowing pending results also. Please call their helpline to confirm.

5 workdays.
The official time is from 9 AM to 6:15 PM. Module tests start at 8:30 AM.
Your parents will have to stay at some other hotel outside infosys. They have guest houses but you wont be able to book a room in them before joining.

i was selected in infosys in on campus placement...where the cut off for 10,12,btech was 60%,,,i have 63 per in 12 ,68 in btech....but i have 59 per in 10....now i am really tensed that i might be asked to leave when i show my original marksheets....i dnt want to fake any mark sheet or anything....can u tell me if there is anything i can do about it...i know infy is very prestigious company and i dnt want to loose my opportunity due to 1 % in 10th.....pls help as i am very disturbed abt it.....i am not able to concentrate on preparing myself for training in mysore....please help me solve this situation...i would be very gratefull of you.......

How were you eligible for interview if the criteria announced was 60% in 10th?
I dont know what help can i provide in this situation. Check if there was any rule by which if you have more marks in BTech, you get a 5% tolerance in any one of the remaining marks because it was there for us. If that rule is not there, i cant help you with this.

College does not decide who is eligible and who is not.
There are infosys employees in each campus interview conducted who verify whether you meet the required criteria or not.
Did you write the correct 10th %age or you mentioned it to be above 60%?

So you made a deliberate mistake.
They do check everyone's marksheet and recalculate the aggregates by themselves for each candidate they select for interview.
You cant "convince" them if they have a problem with your 10th marks.
You can just try joining when your DOJ comes and see if they allow you to continue or not.
