August 7, 2008 at 10:42 PM
hey how do u prepare 4 your tests??? do you prepare from books in general from de library in mysore campus or infy provides u with some sort of specific study material????
August 7, 2008 at 10:47 PM
can u pls tell me d difference between moduletest &compre?
August 7, 2008 at 11:36 PM
ya, we prepare.... you just have to study from their books and slides... nothing more is needed...
@prysh...
Module test is a subject test and compre means everything included..
August 7, 2008 at 11:41 PM
hi,i m joining on 25th aug..plz tell me how many formal pairs shd i bring wid me..and is the training too hectic or not..i m 4m punjab ,so vat r my chances of getting chd as my dc after training
August 8, 2008 at 7:27 AM
Bring 4 formal pairs. and one extra if you want..
you have high chances of getting chandigarh in posting because they mostly post us at the nearest DC to our native place...
August 8, 2008 at 7:24 PM
is compre difficult???i belong to eee branch nd i heard dat if u fail in compre retest den infy will throw u out..is dat true???non cs-it students can clear dat test easily???
August 8, 2008 at 7:29 PM
one more thing... class timings are 9-12.45 nd 2-5.45...den wen nd hw we will complete our assignments???i mean for d people who r not having their laptops wid dem..and if we comlete those assignments after 5.45 den will b left wid no time for ourselves...
August 8, 2008 at 9:05 PM
@Anonymous...
its not difficult if you study sincerely.. yes, you are thrown out if you fail twice. everyone has to work hard. all these facilities dont come for free.its not that its too easy for cs-it people. they too have to work hard for compre..
the timings are right.. but you have the wrong information. you dont have to do the assignments on your laptops. you have to do it on the PCs assigned to you in the class. And laptops are actually useless for doing labwork because you cant take their slides out. and also you have to submit the assignments on the link provided to you by the batch owner which will be an infy intranet link. You cant access that link except from PCs on their network..
The class would be only upto 12:45 normally and after 2 you have to do the assignments. if you are good, you can finish by 6 otherwise you have to go back after dinner and finish them..
August 8, 2008 at 11:49 PM
and about the material that they provide us.... is it given to us permanently or r we supposed to return it after training is over????
August 9, 2008 at 10:01 AM
yes, you have to return it on completion of training...
August 9, 2008 at 10:34 AM
hi there..the net access is thru the allotted pc or frm our own lappy?
August 9, 2008 at 4:39 PM
for the allotted PC, the time for net access is as i mentioned and you can access net from ur laptops if you want at your own cost...
August 9, 2008 at 6:43 PM
Hi Chintan, Hope You Are Enjoying There.
Can u please tell me which websites are blocked on alloted PCs?
August 9, 2008 at 7:22 PM
@Himanshu...
All websites that you wud want to surf are blocked..LOL
yahoo, gmail, orkut, even all blogs are blocked... both blogspot and wordpress... but you can access them using proxy sites... i havent tried to access orkut yet..
August 17, 2008 at 8:15 PM
hai..im from ec deparment..
what abt the assignments...are they difficult.???
August 17, 2008 at 11:03 PM
noo.. they are not difficult.. they are just good enough to make you not go too early.. but ya, sometimes you will have to come back after dinner to complete them... but overall nothing to worry about much..
August 30, 2008 at 3:17 PM
hii chintan...will they ask us about where we would like to get posted..or do they simply select nearest native place location as posting location...
which posting place is considered better in terms of work environment-mangalore dc or bangalore dc?
February 18, 2009 at 11:59 PM
hey chintan, doesnt it get too hectic that v attend classes whole day long and then revising the whole thing again in evening to score good, i mean doin that for 3 months continously, too much man!!
February 19, 2009 at 12:01 AM
also i wud like to know that are the tests tough, i mean, does reading the books provided by them enough or do v have to consult other books from the library too..
October 1, 2009 at 10:16 AM
Hello Chintan,
My joining date is 7th Dec,2009.I am from CS/IT background.You have updated a lot about non cs/it background.Can you please help me with some information regarding how to prepare before joining?Thanks in advance.
October 1, 2009 at 12:32 PM
@Soubarna...
Learn C language and Java before joining.
October 1, 2009 at 2:21 PM
hhey..chintan....u told that internet acess timings have been increased...wat do u mean by internet access?...will thr be any lab to access internet at infosys..and if so..can u update me abt the information and how to acess internet as in will thr be any procedure to access it in the lab or we can just go and sit??
October 1, 2009 at 3:58 PM
@Abid...
It is all old information. Please do not read posts before 2009.
I was talking about the internet time in the classroom PCs.
Most of the websites that you would like to surf would be blocked at classroom PCs but there is a reliance webworld in the campus which you can go to for checking your mail, orkut etc.
October 1, 2009 at 11:17 PM
Hello Chintan
I just wanted to know ,what platform do they use for lab work.(UNIX ,LINUX,windows).Other thing is
what do you use , GNU C library or Borland C Library for C assignments .do they provide documentation. Can we bring any printed books .
October 2, 2009 at 10:38 AM
@PSR...
It will be windows except for UNIX module in generic in which you will access UNIX environment from your windows machine itself.
I dont know which version of C is used. You can bring printed books but all books that you will ever need are available in the library.
October 10, 2009 at 12:43 AM
hi chintan,
can we take the book from the library to our room or should we read it there in the library alone. will there be time to read other books than the book provided by infy..
October 10, 2009 at 12:45 AM
Hi chintan,
so proud to have a friend like you, through whose eyes we are seeing infosys..
May God Bless you with knowledge..
October 10, 2009 at 10:10 AM
@Raghu...
You can take library books to your room and can read there also. The library is open 24 hours.
You can read other books if you manage well but just for clearing the training, their material is good enough.
October 13, 2009 at 1:40 AM
Hi Chintan, my que is , i seen the campus connect site in that there is disscussion forum in that people says laptops are strictly not allowed, but i had seen ur prev thread in wich u said laptops are allowed, what to do?
October 13, 2009 at 10:25 AM
@RRR...
That is old info which was meant for 2008 batch. For batches joining 23rd March 2009 onwards, laptops are strictly not allowed.
October 13, 2009 at 6:30 PM
Hi, chintan
You are doing a great service to mankind by posting this forum. I have been going through the posts and it is as if I have found a goldmine of information.
But there is one thing that i am still unclear about. In some of the previous posts you have mentioned that in order to clear training we have to clear the first stream apart from the generic training. Does this apply even to the 2009 batch.
October 13, 2009 at 7:32 PM
@Ashok...
Yes, you have to clear each stream. Read "Full Details About New Training Program (for 2009 Batch)" for more info.
October 13, 2009 at 9:59 PM
My Date of joining is 16 Nov
I have done reservation to reach bangalore on 15th Nov at 9am,and I may reach mysore at 12pm
Now my question is ,At what time onwards joining slots start.
October 14, 2009 at 10:33 AM
@P.S.R. Patnaik...
If there is nothing mentioned in your joining letter / email about the time, you can reach anytime. However, if there is a time mentioned, you will be admitted in only in that time slot and not before. If you reach after your time slot is over, you will be allowed in after all remaining time slots are over.
December 24, 2009 at 2:43 AM
hi chintan,i plan to pursue M.S and have already applied to univ's , in case if i get an admit i'll be leaving next aug.I thought of attending infy training in the mean time,do you think it is a wise decision? what is the compensation amt i have to pay in case i leave infy after training?
December 24, 2009 at 11:05 AM
@Carpe diem...
It is certainly good to join infosys and i recommend that you go ahead with it.
I have already said it many times that you can knowingly fail in training and avoid paying anything to them. Infact, that way, you will get infosys experience certificate also.
Training period is now extended to 6-8 months so i think training would still be going on when you decide to leave. Anyways, if it isnt, you can fail in the last compre exam which will make them to ask you to leave them company.
December 24, 2009 at 10:00 PM
Thanks a lot chintan.what is the compensation amount one has to pay if they are leaving the company legally ?
December 25, 2009 at 10:09 PM
@Carpe diem...
The infosys bond amount is 50000 Rs.
January 1, 2010 at 7:24 PM
I got selected to my dream company infosys. But i am a mechanical student. I dont know anything about computer and its languages....
I love to work in infosys...
But i am afraid about the training.......I will put my effort....
Its is very difficult to learn things in a short period i.e 4 to 5 Months.....
many people are asking me to join the core company.and i got selected to a core company also.They are giving a high pay....
BUT MY PASSION IS TO SIT BEFORE COMPUTER AND BRING OUT A DIFFERENCE...DEFINITELY I AM AIMING TO DO WORK EFFICIENTLY....
BUT ALL MY DREAMS WILL NOT REALISED WITH THE EXAMS....
i want to take cse or it department.but due to enforcement i took mechanical. A CSE STUDENT STUDIES EVERYTHING IN 4 YEARS.BUT HOW COME A MECHANICAL STUDENT STUDY IT IN 3 MONTHS...i have 80% in my engineering.definitely i would have scored 95%,if i would have taken computer science.....
i am really crying....................
definitely infosys may lose people like me....if they are going to have short period....
i would say that the training should be for 2 years....and they can reduce the monthly salary........
January 1, 2010 at 8:21 PM
@Rajan
Hello there is no need to worry at all . Every one can perform well in the short period. its all about how much u r passionate in that.from ur comments u will do great . Just listen to what ur instincts says u. do it blindly do it. then u will be in the path of success
January 2, 2010 at 3:01 AM
@Rajan...
I cannot understand the reason for you being so pessimistic. If you have already decided that you have lost the war, then you dont need to fight it.
This is the problem with people who just get selected in Infosys and then get hysteric about training. See, they PAY you. And that makes all the difference. Infact they pay well enough that freshers just out of college who know nothing start earning as much as their parents in some cases. If they pay you this well and provide you enough facilities that it leaves nothing to imagination, you are bound to work hard for them the way they want you to. Do you think CS-IT people are at an advantage? Just know that on the 3rd day of Programming Fundamentals module, even CS-IT guys will tell you that they havent learnt this much about C language in 4 years.
There are CS-IT students who cant clear training and there are Mech/EC/Elec students who score 5 out of 5 CGPA. I have a friend who was from Engineering Physics branch and scored 99% in generic compre and 95% in .NET stream compre. Needless to say, he also had 5 out of 5.
You will understand how a mech student can learn in 3 months after you join.
Even i am a mechanical engineer. Though i could not clear training but i was very close at CGPA 3.95 out of 4 required. And i wont say that the training was tough. It was just that i became easygoing in stream training which cost me marks. Otherwise there was nothing for me to be afraid of in training. But yes, unlike you, i never thought CS-IT people are at an advantage or doubted my own abilities. December 2008 was a bad time for a fresher mech engineer to lose his IT job AND deciding to stick with IT. People advised me too to go for mech but i was determined to be in IT no matter what happens. One year later, today i see myself declining dozens of interview calls and an offer higher than what my friends at infosys have. Why did i decline it? Because i earn more than that by doing independent work. So if you let others' opinion affect you, you will never reach anywhere.
If you are really crying, then i am really laughing at you. Training should be of 2 years? I have told them to make special arrangements for you... lol... They have a business to run and they are not an organization working for human rights. Even after training, you may be required to work on weekends and average more than 14 hours a day if the project demands. I know people who have averaged 18 hours a day for 1-2 weeks and had a day when they had to work for 23 hours. Infosys will make you do it to avoid crossing the deadline and paying penalty to the client for not completing the project on time. And Wipro, TCS or any other IT company for that matter is no different. This is a part of an IT professional's life and you have to be prepared for it.
January 3, 2010 at 8:38 PM
hello chintan , u really opened my eyes.......the reply is a wake up call to me......questionstoindia@yahoo.com is my id
please send me ur email address..
thanks a lot...... i am refreshed to the maximum....

January 5, 2010 at 10:35 AM
@Rajan...
What do you want my email id for? Please not that i wont answer any infy related questions by mail, scraps or IMs. You will have to post your queries on this blog only. My email is [my first name]100 [at] gmail .
@Alester...
I am not sure about laptops since i recently someone said they are allowed again now. Anyways, i will post about it after i get some confirmed news.
January 5, 2010 at 7:16 PM
hi,
i really aspire to do MBA.have my joining on 22 feb in infosys... can u plz tell me is it quite manageable to carry on with both infy and CAT preparation in parallel
January 6, 2010 at 11:26 AM
@Divya...
You will not be able to prepare for MBA without sacrificing sleep which you would be sacrificing already.
You will time for just one activity besides training. You have to decide whether it will be watching movies, playing tennis or preparing for MBA.
January 7, 2010 at 5:15 PM
thanks a lot sir for your reply... one more thing sir .. wat about preparing after my training gets over.. will it work? can we get time for preparation after we get posted?
and sir i also wanna knw does infy gives SAP stream also, its given random or dey have sum criteria for stram distribution?...
January 8, 2010 at 11:13 AM
@Divya...
After training, it depends on whether you get project or not. If you get project immediately, you may barely get time except weekends and if you are on bench, you will have plenty of time during office hours also.
No logic in allotting the streams. Purely random. There is SAP stream and whoever gets SAP stream in training, they have to go to Infosys, Hyderabad for the training as its training is not given at Infosys, Mysore until the last i heard.
June 3, 2010 at 8:10 PM
Sir, I had recieved offer-letter stating my DOJ as july 12,2010
now again i have got an offer-letter.. stating my DOJ as sep 6,2010 without mentioning any reason for the same.
also this time i have got an invitation for campus-connect.. i have filled the e-joining
my concern is that the DOJ should not be delayed any further.. is there any possibility for that. and what can be the apparent reason for the delay??
thanx
June 3, 2010 at 8:28 PM
@VS...
Such changes in DOJ happen every year and there is no known reason for it. I think when you recruit 25000 people every year, such cases are bound to happen but i have not heard of cases where DOJ was changed more than once.
June 5, 2010 at 8:02 PM
Thanks slot sir.. that was so so soothing to hear
btw now where are you working..
June 6, 2010 at 2:03 AM
@VS...
Please read the latest post of this blog, man. Please look around before you decide to ask something.
June 14, 2010 at 3:43 PM
Hello,
I will be joining on 21st of June. Though your blog answers almost all of my queries, there is one thing I've not clearly understood. I was wondering if I will be allowed to carry my PC Speakers along. I shall be pluggin it into my phone for some soft music for mild singing practice. I have learnt Classical Music, and do not wish to go out of touch. For that, is the speaker allowed to be carried along? Mentioning again, the purpose will only be to have a single supporting note played through a short practice session.
Waiting for a reply.
Thanks.
June 15, 2010 at 4:58 PM
@Karthik...
Yes, you can take your speakers there.
June 16, 2010 at 11:19 AM
Thank you...
And, I am Kar'T'ik! :)
I just got confused over one more issue. We have to wear formals on the days other than Friday. While some count the pants with no pleats, the flat-front ones among formal, going by others' definition, pleats are important. Do they give these details any importance?
June 16, 2010 at 12:45 PM
@Kartik...
No... Dont worry about so much details.
June 16, 2010 at 2:30 PM
Thank u...!
June 16, 2010 at 4:33 PM
hi,in accommodation letter they have asked us to produce the proof for vaccination(HEP A,B etc..) but i had them when i was in school. Should that proof be produced for sure?I just took the medical tests but not this.. My DOJ is 21st june , pls reply..
June 17, 2010 at 12:03 AM
@Tharani....
Yes, that should be good enough.
July 8, 2010 at 9:54 PM
Hii chintan
I got placed in infy recently.Before attending the interview,i was in my MS plans..I jus attended the interview with no intentions in joining the company.But now i got attracted to the world class training and the brand name of the company.I always want pursue my higher education..either Mba or MS.Now if i join the company will i be able to continue my higher studies after 1 or 2 yrs??this question sounds stupid.but im very confused.please give me a suggestion..shud i go with my MS plan or join the company??i hav my joining date on sept13th..
July 9, 2010 at 12:25 PM
@Teju...
I get asked this question by many people but whether to join Infosys or go for higher education is purely your own choice. Do what you feel is right for you. I cant decide this for you. The training is ofcourse the best in the industry but nowadays you dont get to hear good things about Infosys from people who got posted.
An example worth sharing: A friend of mine from my batch (2008) from Pune University had offers from Infosys, iFlex, Tech Mahindra and Wipro but he decided to go for MTech and got into NIT Surathkal which is considered a very good college. But he will be passing out this year and the only offer he has is 3.6 lakh Rs. per annum from IBM while my Infy friends from the same batch will have their packages increase to 4.0-4.2 lakh Rs. per annum.
So go for what you feel like going for. Dont pursue higher education just for the sake of it.
August 2, 2010 at 10:54 PM
Hey is the syallabus for generic training modified last year
August 3, 2010 at 1:15 AM
@Asheesh...
Infosys training syllabus is reviewed and modified every year and the changes are mostly implemented in March.
August 4, 2010 at 1:46 PM
hi chintan...
i am going through your blog from a long time and found that you suggested java and c to go through before we join at infy...i m confused that do we need to study java in depth by some book like complete reference/black book or a basic knowledge will be able to help us there?
August 4, 2010 at 3:10 PM
@Tushar...
Only basic knowledge is required. Actually, there is no need for prior preparation too. If you are just regular in training, you can easily pass.
August 4, 2010 at 3:51 PM
thanks chintan...i actually was seeking some info on requirement of prior preparation, thanks for the relieving info... :)
August 12, 2010 at 8:55 PM
Hey will digital cameras be allowed in campus for 2010 batch
August 12, 2010 at 9:55 PM
@Asheesh...
Yes, they are allowed.
August 24, 2010 at 7:48 PM
hi chintan i m finding another doubt....my joining is on 27th september so we are required to reach infy on 26th...i want to ask are we allowed to reach mysore on 26 late night around 10 pm or they have some fixed time limit to allow us to enter on that particular day..i.e 26th?
August 24, 2010 at 9:08 PM
@Tushar...
Yes, you are can reach at any time on 26th unless they have specified a time in your joining details mail. The reception is open 24 hours and so you will get your room whenever you reach there.
August 25, 2010 at 10:53 AM
Hello Chintan!!!!!
My joining is on 4 oct,I wanted to know whether i can carry any laptop.Also i would be completing OCA certification next month so can i get any dept related to databases,means can i ask my HR to look after it?
August 25, 2010 at 12:22 PM
@Tushar...
You cannot take your laptop there. No, certifications dont matter to them and you will still be allocated stream and IBU randomly.
August 27, 2010 at 7:44 PM
Are the notes provided by them during training are enough?or do we have to bring our with us?and what all dept are thereafter training amongst which we will get?
September 22, 2010 at 4:05 PM
Hi,proof for vaccination is compulsory...??I read previous comments but still i couldnt get it..Also can u tell me what is doj intimation letter?
September 23, 2010 at 12:23 AM
@Tushar...
Yes, their notes and slides are enough. There are various streams like J2EE which is often called Java, Oracle, .NET, Open Systems, PLES etc.
@Seetha...
It was not compulsory when i joined and i still believe that it is not. DOJ intimation letter is the letter in which they tell you your DOJ and things like when to reach the campus, place of location etc.
December 8, 2010 at 10:48 PM
hi sir...... i am selected at infosys..... i am getting feared that whether i can tolerate the toughness of infy training.... i have an idea of doing higher studies....... my parents too like that. please guide me wt to choose whether infy or higher studies
December 9, 2010 at 12:44 AM
@Revathi...
To join Infosys or pursue higher studies is totally your choice. Do what you feel will be better for your career and what you think you are good at.
About toughness of training, i would say that if you are careful and work hard sincerely everyday in training, there is nothing that will stop you from passing the training. But ya, if you become lazy and start to procrastinate, the training will come back to bite you. Just know that only about 5-10% people fail in Infosys training. So now you can decide whether you are just in that bottom 5-10% people or can be better than that. Dont go for higher studies just because you fear failing in training. Infosys mysore training experience is a once in a lifetime opportunity and you would not want to miss being a part of that awesome atmosphere.
December 10, 2010 at 12:01 AM
hello chintan
i want to know that do they provide internet connection in the rooms for use on laptops?
December 10, 2010 at 1:10 AM
@Arijit...
Please read other posts before posting a question. Even laptops are not allowed now in the hostel rooms so providing internet connection for them is out of question.
January 11, 2011 at 8:29 PM
Is there Wifi in the campus /rooms that we can use on cell phones for internet??
January 11, 2011 at 9:26 PM
@Ajay...
There is wifi in the campus but not in the rooms but it is for their own use and trainees cannot access it.
August 26, 2011 at 8:45 PM
is cycling must and should in mysore campus???
cant anyone manage without it????
September 16, 2011 at 8:04 PM
@Ganu...
It is not a must. You can manage without it.
