    hey how do u prepare 4 your tests??? do you prepare from books in general from de library in mysore campus or infy provides u with some sort of specific study material????

  2. prysh

    can u pls tell me d difference between moduletest &compre?

  3. Chintan Patel

    ya, we prepare.... you just have to study from their books and slides... nothing more is needed...

    @prysh...

    Module test is a subject test and compre means everything included..

    hi,i m joining on 25th aug..plz tell me how many formal pairs shd i bring wid me..and is the training too hectic or not..i m 4m punjab ,so vat r my chances of getting chd as my dc after training

  5. Chintan Patel

    Bring 4 formal pairs. and one extra if you want..

    you have high chances of getting chandigarh in posting because they mostly post us at the nearest DC to our native place...

    is compre difficult???i belong to eee branch nd i heard dat if u fail in compre retest den infy will throw u out..is dat true???non cs-it students can clear dat test easily???

  7. Anonymous

    one more thing... class timings are 9-12.45 nd 2-5.45...den wen nd hw we will complete our assignments???i mean for d people who r not having their laptops wid dem..and if we comlete those assignments after 5.45 den will b left wid no time for ourselves...

  8. Chintan Patel

    @Anonymous...

    its not difficult if you study sincerely.. yes, you are thrown out if you fail twice. everyone has to work hard. all these facilities dont come for free.its not that its too easy for cs-it people. they too have to work hard for compre..

    the timings are right.. but you have the wrong information. you dont have to do the assignments on your laptops. you have to do it on the PCs assigned to you in the class. And laptops are actually useless for doing labwork because you cant take their slides out. and also you have to submit the assignments on the link provided to you by the batch owner which will be an infy intranet link. You cant access that link except from PCs on their network..

    The class would be only upto 12:45 normally and after 2 you have to do the assignments. if you are good, you can finish by 6 otherwise you have to go back after dinner and finish them..

  9. Vishnu

    and about the material that they provide us.... is it given to us permanently or r we supposed to return it after training is over????

  10. Chintan Patel

    yes, you have to return it on completion of training...

    hi there..the net access is thru the allotted pc or frm our own lappy?

  12. Chintan Patel

    for the allotted PC, the time for net access is as i mentioned and you can access net from ur laptops if you want at your own cost...

  13. Himanshu Pathak

    Hi Chintan, Hope You Are Enjoying There.

    Can u please tell me which websites are blocked on alloted PCs?

  14. Chintan Patel

    @Himanshu...

    All websites that you wud want to surf are blocked..LOL
    yahoo, gmail, orkut, even all blogs are blocked... both blogspot and wordpress... but you can access them using proxy sites... i havent tried to access orkut yet..

  15. Anonymous

    hai..im from ec deparment..

    what abt the assignments...are they difficult.???

  16. Chintan Patel

    noo.. they are not difficult.. they are just good enough to make you not go too early.. but ya, sometimes you will have to come back after dinner to complete them... but overall nothing to worry about much..

  17. arith

    hii chintan...will they ask us about where we would like to get posted..or do they simply select nearest native place location as posting location...

    which posting place is considered better in terms of work environment-mangalore dc or bangalore dc?

  18. Manish

    hey chintan, doesnt it get too hectic that v attend classes whole day long and then revising the whole thing again in evening to score good, i mean doin that for 3 months continously, too much man!!

  19. Manish

    also i wud like to know that are the tests tough, i mean, does reading the books provided by them enough or do v have to consult other books from the library too..

  22. abid's

    hhey..chintan....u told that internet acess timings have been increased...wat do u mean by internet access?...will thr be any lab to access internet at infosys..and if so..can u update me abt the information and how to acess internet as in will thr be any procedure to access it in the lab or we can just go and sit??

  23. Chintan Patel

    @Abid...

    It is all old information. Please do not read posts before 2009.

    I was talking about the internet time in the classroom PCs.

    Most of the websites that you would like to surf would be blocked at classroom PCs but there is a reliance webworld in the campus which you can go to for checking your mail, orkut etc.

    Hello Chintan
    I just wanted to know ,what platform do they use for lab work.(UNIX ,LINUX,windows).Other thing is
    what do you use , GNU C library or Borland C Library for C assignments .do they provide documentation. Can we bring any printed books .

  25. Chintan Patel

    @PSR...

    It will be windows except for UNIX module in generic in which you will access UNIX environment from your windows machine itself.

    I dont know which version of C is used. You can bring printed books but all books that you will ever need are available in the library.

  26. Raghu

    hi chintan,
    can we take the book from the library to our room or should we read it there in the library alone. will there be time to read other books than the book provided by infy..

  27. Raghu

    Hi chintan,
    so proud to have a friend like you, through whose eyes we are seeing infosys..
    May God Bless you with knowledge..

  28. Chintan Patel

    @Raghu...

    You can take library books to your room and can read there also. The library is open 24 hours.

    You can read other books if you manage well but just for clearing the training, their material is good enough.

  29. RRR

    Hi Chintan, my que is , i seen the campus connect site in that there is disscussion forum in that people says laptops are strictly not allowed, but i had seen ur prev thread in wich u said laptops are allowed, what to do?

  30. Chintan Patel

    @RRR...

    That is old info which was meant for 2008 batch. For batches joining 23rd March 2009 onwards, laptops are strictly not allowed.

  31. ashok

    Hi, chintan
    You are doing a great service to mankind by posting this forum. I have been going through the posts and it is as if I have found a goldmine of information.
    But there is one thing that i am still unclear about. In some of the previous posts you have mentioned that in order to clear training we have to clear the first stream apart from the generic training. Does this apply even to the 2009 batch.

  32. Chintan Patel

    @Ashok...

    Yes, you have to clear each stream. Read "Full Details About New Training Program (for 2009 Batch)" for more info.

  33. P.S.R. Patnaik

    My Date of joining is 16 Nov
    I have done reservation to reach bangalore on 15th Nov at 9am,and I may reach mysore at 12pm
    Now my question is ,At what time onwards joining slots start.

  34. Chintan Patel

    @P.S.R. Patnaik...

    If there is nothing mentioned in your joining letter / email about the time, you can reach anytime. However, if there is a time mentioned, you will be admitted in only in that time slot and not before. If you reach after your time slot is over, you will be allowed in after all remaining time slots are over.
