There is now compulsary 6 months training for all. There is no change in the syllabus. Just that you now have 2 streams instead of 1. But ya, the good thing is that you have cleared training if you clear the first stream. That means, you wont be asked to leave if you dont score well in the second stream. And that also means that if you dont have a CGPA of 4 at the end of first stream, you wont get a chance to improve your scores in the second stream and will be asked to leave.
As is obvious, no choice for the second stream. You will have to study what they offer you.
The second stream that you undergo is equivalent to PR201 certificate. You will learn about that after you join. Infosys employees have to appear for a fixed number of certifications every year and this is one of them.
Earlier, you could not bring alcohol in the campus, but now, they have made the rule more strict by stating that noone can even enter the campus when he/she is drunk. As you may be already knowing, you will be asked to leave the hostel if you dont follow this rule. Some people who arrived drunk on 31st Dec have been already made to leave hostel.

You dont have to pay anything if they make you leave. As in if you dont pass training. They support many MTech, MS and PhD programmes also whose list you will get after you join. But ya, they sponsor MBA programs the most.
Usually they dont come chasing you to ask for bond amount if you go for higher studies. But if they come to know that you have joined some rival company then they will ask for bond amount.
I am sure that it is mentioned clearly in the service agreement but you can send the part which you didnt understand.
No yaar, why do we have to pay them if they want us to leave?

They never say it but it holds true. One person from my generic class who was also selected in Reliance had his joining on sept 26. So he joined with us on july 21 and then knowingly failed in easy subjects and went to the HR and resigned. He didnt have to pay any bond amount...
So know this: "You can resign during training".

Only creating and querying tables is enough for RDBMS in generic...
SQL/PL-SQL is just a part of Oracle which is a module in Java stream.

No, man.. Dont believe the press. After joining Infosys, I came to know how even the smallest changes are hyped up by the media to earn publicity. Infosys doesnt demand money from you in any way. Except if you break the bond, there is no rule which makes you pay Infosys any money.

No, there is no difference AT ALL. Each criteria is the same for everyone. Doesnt matter if you are a small unknown college or from IIT. Doesnt matter if you are from mechanical or have done MTech in IT.

Yes, you can. But if there are bomb blasts or something going on in the country then visitors are banned. They can get a visitor pass which is valid for 3 hrs.

You can squeeze 2 hrs for CAT prep if you plan well. One of my friends got 94%ile this year. We too had training going on from July-Dec.
But ya, CAT can come next year, every year but not infosys. IIMs and Infosys have the same rate of selecting candidates from total applicants i.e. less than 1%. So really speaking, its better if you stop worrying and even preparing for CAT this year and try next year. You will get a feel of training in about a month or so. You can then decide whether to prepare for CAT or not.
Yes, training period is extended. Only those people who are given training for SAP are shifted to Hyd after first stream. For them too, the generic and first stream are at Mysore itself.

Yes, there are several changes in training from batches joining from 23rd March 2009.
Training program undergoes review every year and so minor to major changes are bound to happen every year.
I think salary for 2009 passouts is 10% higher than that of 2008 batch. For us it was 2.7 lakhs but it is 3.0 lakhs per annum for 2009 passouts.

Getting a late DOJ is not soo much unfortunate as you take it to be. You sound as if you had to leave infosys with a CGPA of 3.99 . You can prepare for certifications like SCJP, CCNA etc.
FYI, my college mates selected in Wipro have got DOJ 29 Dec 2009. That is 1.5 years after graduating.

You will have to apply for extension. You have got a backlog and that is a genuine reason.
They surely dont allow pending exams but i think they are not allowing pending results also. Please call their helpline to confirm.

5 workdays.
The official time is from 9 AM to 6:15 PM. Module tests start at 8:30 AM.
Your parents will have to stay at some other hotel outside infosys. They have guest houses but you wont be able to book a room in them before joining.

i was selected in infosys in on campus placement...where the cut off for 10,12,btech was 60%,,,i have 63 per in 12 ,68 in btech....but i have 59 per in 10....now i am really tensed that i might be asked to leave when i show my original marksheets....i dnt want to fake any mark sheet or anything....can u tell me if there is anything i can do about it...i know infy is very prestigious company and i dnt want to loose my opportunity due to 1 % in 10th.....pls help as i am very disturbed abt it.....i am not able to concentrate on preparing myself for training in mysore....please help me solve this situation...i would be very gratefull of you.......

How were you eligible for interview if the criteria announced was 60% in 10th?
I dont know what help can i provide in this situation. Check if there was any rule by which if you have more marks in BTech, you get a 5% tolerance in any one of the remaining marks because it was there for us. If that rule is not there, i cant help you with this.

College does not decide who is eligible and who is not.
There are infosys employees in each campus interview conducted who verify whether you meet the required criteria or not.
Did you write the correct 10th %age or you mentioned it to be above 60%?

So you made a deliberate mistake.
They do check everyone's marksheet and recalculate the aggregates by themselves for each candidate they select for interview.
You cant "convince" them if they have a problem with your 10th marks.
You can just try joining when your DOJ comes and see if they allow you to continue or not.

Sorry for missing out on your comment. Just for others' sake here is the answer:
They wont do background checks for police cases against you but if you can be suspended indefinitely or fired from the company if they find out that there are criminal cases against you. If you are proved innocent, they will take you back.
They are sensitive to criminal backgrounds but if you are proved innocent they will not have a problem.

I have said it many times before and will say it again that criteria is not the same for all universities. Infosys eligibility criteria applicable to you will be announced to you when infosys visits your campus.

i am about to join on 8 Feb. While filling the e-joining, under education heading, we are asked to enter the date of beginning and end of the course.
but in the example image they have provided, the marks are entered separately for each year.
my doubt is:
1) are we supposed to enter the dates of beginning and end of semester(6 months) or b-tech (4yrs).
2) when i enter marks they are being displayed as consecutive rows whereas in example image they are displayed column wise for semester and row wise for each sem. Am I Doing Any Mistake?

There is not such test conducted at Infosys training centre which will put you directly into production. All freshers have to undergo the training before being put into production.

1. I only faintly remember about this. If they are asking the dates for each semester, mention the dates for each semester start/end. Actually, this falls under the category of stupid joining formalities and dont worry much about it.
2. The example image might be outdated so dont worry about that. Just enter everything as mentioned. I dont know why they dont care to update processes which interface with freshers directly as they are the most confused lot. Even our Joining Details mail mentioned that laptops are not allowed but in the induction program, they said that they are allowed.
So dont worry about these formalities. Even Infosys does it just for formalities sake and it wont land you into trouble anywhere if not done right.

I am not sure what information you want but one thing is sure that projects wont be easy but you will still be able to complete it. Dont waste a chance to spend 4 months at Infosys. The technical training you will get there is a great foundation for a career in IT industry.

Hello sir.. I got placed in Infy this week.. i have one doubt in training..
You have earlier said that if we pass in first test and fail in second test we wont be asked to leave.. But if we fail in first test we will be asked to leave immediately.. Does that mean we wont be allowed to write retest if we fail in first test..? If it is allowed, how many retests are allowed..?

I dont understand you clearly. And i dont think i have said that anywhere. Please find it and show it to me if you do. You dont have to appear for re-test if you pass it in the first attempt. Only 1 retest per subject is allowed.

In the form they make you fill during campus interview before the written test, there is a field where we have to mention if we have any disability. If it is mentioned there about your disability, you dont have to worry. But if your sister did not mention it, they will feel that you tried to hide that fact from them and it may go against you.
Infosys does not do any medical checkups but they ask for certificate from some hospitals about your health. And i am sure that there will be a field for disability in every medical certificate. I had one person in my batch who always used a wheelchair.
So basically, what i am trying to explain is that if you are honest, it wont be a problem because i dont think your sister's disability is something that will hinder her performance but if they feel that you tried to fool them by not informing them, then it may go against you.

I've just plodded through the e-joining formalities and my DOJ is due in next month. After the formalities i've come across this snappy little quote - "Your Personal Band is 3 and Personal Sub Band is 3T". While I do understand what a Personal Band stands for, I am clueless abt what 'Sub Band - 3T' entails. Any chance you could elaborate?

hey,i recently got selected in infy... but in d form i have wrongly filled my 10 n 12th percentage.... i m frm icse board... so i filled %tage taking best 5 subjects in 10th and best 4 subjects in 12th....
taking best 5 sub-89.6%(which i filled in 10th) n taking all subjects it is 88.5%
also in 12th taking best 4 subjects-93.25%( which i filled) n taking all subjects it is 91.8%..... so i m meeting d eligibility criteria...
so will it be a problem in joining???
n what do i mention now in th ejoining form??

I think it is clearly mentioned by them in the written test when they make you to fill up the form that you have to write the %age based on the grand total.
Though if you are already meeting the criteria, it does not create much problem but still they will look at it with some suspicion.
I suggest you fill up the e-joining form with your overall %age. You can explain it later to them and they will also feel that you did not try to hide it.
Otherwise, they will surely call you afterwards to talk about this because they again calculate your %age from the marksheet copies you submit in the first week of joining and again match it with what you mentioned in the campus interview. I have seen the excel sheet for that myself.

You cannot make changes to the form you filled earlier.
If you have not done that to just meet their %age criteria, you should be fine.
No need to inform anybody and explain this to infosys only if they raise this issue, otherwise keep quiet. When they do raise, just say that you filled it for the main 5 subjects in the form but realized it and filled it for all subjects in the e-joining form.

Hard copy may even come after you have left for Infosys. Dont worry about that. They will explain it to you how to proceed with that.
Accommodation mail/Joining details mail will arrive before 1 month of joining so no need to worry.

I have also already told that if you have not done it just for meeting the criteria, it will not be a problem. If it is such a common mistake that ICSE students make, they most probably already know about it.
Just know that you will not be treated unfairly in any matter.
Offer letter can take anywhere from 0-12 months so dont countdown days for it. It will come by post to your college.

My doj was Feb,2010. Could not join due to one back log. Asked for extension. Got replied that marks sheet be produced post declaration of the result by the last week of march 2010 as they don’t have batches joining after March,2010. Cleared my Back log and sent all my marks sheets and provisional degree . But i did not get next doj. Whether they will give me new date in the month of March or later or will turn down my request. As they don’t have batches joining after March, how many days in advance they give DOJ. Month of March begins today

If they told you to produce marksheets by the last week of March and you have already sent your marksheets, you dont have anything to worry about. Why would they turn down your request if you have met their condition? They usually give DOJ before 1 month of joining but in your case, it can be less if they try to accommodate you in one of March 2010 batches. Whatever it is, they wont do anything unfair to you and they will keep you updated about it.

As i have said often, you cant extend your DOJ to a time convenient to you. All extension candidates are called together in one batch in March till now and so it will be mostly the same for you too.

You have to fill in your details on infosys website before joining. That is called ejoining. You will get a mail from them if and when it is needed.

1. As you have already told that laptops are not allowed in campus during training, so are there any provisions for trainees to surf net and do any other work on computer 24x7 or they will have to go to a particular lab for any such reasons?

GECs used to be open 24 hours but now they are also closed down at 10 PM so you cant be on computer 24x7. After 5 PM and before 9 AM, you can surf net on your classroom PC. There is a reliance web world also if you want to check your mails/orkut/facebook etc.
I havent come to know of any major changes in the 2010 program so have not posted anything about it. Will post if i come to know of any significant changes.

Calculation of CGPA will be explained in detail in the first week of joining. I can give you an idea but since i underwent training before 2 years, it may have changed slightly and i may be wrong on that so its better that you get to know about that after joining.

Since Java is now also a part of generic training, Core Java would surely help you in generic. I am assuming here that Core Java is what is included in generic syllabus. So if Core Java is included in generic, Java stream will contain JSP which was already there when i underwent training and maybe something more which i have no idea of. So i think studying Core Java, Advanced Java and JSP should be enough preparation before joining. You dont need to study everything before joining.

As long as you get to code, every stream is good as that is what a software engineer does. You wont get to code in streams like IVS(testing), IMS etc and so except those streams, every stream is good as long as you get to code after posting and it only depends on your personal comfort with the platform.

If you want to write GRE, you can do it even during training though you wont be able to prepare for it as well as you could without joining.
That said, you should be aware that your new DOJ will only be in March when all extension candidates are called together for training. If you are fine with that, you can apply for extension.
What excuse you can give for applying for extension is totally upto you because they will surely verify it so be careful.

hii sir, my infosys joining date was 19th july. i hav one pending backlog in 6th sem and one back in 7th sem exam. i hav applied for extention on the basis of medical and i hav sent medical documents to infy without my marksheets . i got reply from infy that send your marks sheets also with ur next expected joining date. right now i have medical proof but i dont have all marksheets . i will clear those 2 backlogs exams til december 20. wat should i do now ?? should i reply to infy now without all marksheets or should i wait for dec and reply after gettng all my marksheets??

You can tell them that your marksheets are pending but i think they will eventually see it through. You should have given the right reason for extending your DOJ. Backlog is considered a valid reason for extending DOJ. Whatever you do, keep in mind that they are 100 times smarter than all the trainees and they handle thousands of such cases every year. They have a very well refined system in place.
You cannot wait till december to do that. The best you can do is to give them your other marksheets and say that you are awaiting other marksheets from college/university or you can say that you have backlog and so the results are pending for those 2 sems.

Your aggregate marks will be calculated before you are sent to interview. I remember form my interview that there were about 5-6 people from infosys staff whose only job was to calculate the aggregate of everyone's results by checking every mark sheet. So i dont think you will be able to do it. Anyways, you can give it a try and if you that system is no longer in practice and you can clear interview and your final aggregate before joining is over 68%, you wont face any problem.

No. There would be a maximum of 1 day gap. That also if you are lucky. In our batch, people who got posted to Bangalore did not have any gap and people who got Pune left a day after so they got 1 day gap.
It is easy to find accommodation because new people come in all the time. There are also internal forums in all Infosys DCs where people advertise vacancies in their rooms so it is easy to find accommodation in the city you get posted to. Infosys gives 7 days of accommodation in their guest house and i have not heard of anyone who was not able to find a room in those 7 days.

Dont worry about the entire syllabus now. It will be explained to you before training begins.

Only the proof of having applied for passport is enough if you dont have passport.

I have a percentage of 68.1% by the end of 4-1.Unfortunately i got a backlog during 4-1 and i got my joining date as june 15th.I wont be getting my supplementary result by june 15th.I know this question has been answered but my doubt is :
I belong to JNTU university and i have an option of leaving two subjects and i will be still eligible for a degree .Will infy allow us to do that or it is mandatory to clear all the subjects.
Also please tell me will they give me an extension on the grounds of a backlog???

Yes, they give extension for backlogs but the new DOJ will be within 6 months of the original DOJ after which the offer will be cancelled.

I am appearing for infosys recruitment test tomorrow. I took Sanskrit as 5th subject in class 10 (option was between hindi and sanskrit). I also gave hindi exam because it is required for govt. jobs. Hey, i dont know how this escaped you but if your joining is 14th Feb, you have to report on 13th Feb. It is mentioned in the joining details mail also if you have got one.
Anyways, now you can inform them again explaining your situation in detail and that due to unavoidable circumstances you will not be able to reach on 13th but will report on 14th and see what they respond with.

If you comfortably meet the selection criteria at 81.33%, they wont have any problem. The would only have a problem if they find out that you increased your marks just to meet the selection criteria because you were not meeting the criteria before.

If i complete the 4-6 months training and then resign i mean when they will post me at sum of their sites, i resign and don't work for the deployment period i.e. of 12 months. but i have completed the training ....then do i need to pay sumthing back... if yes then how much... HR told me 25k but seniors are telling 1 lakh...i am confused

Why do you want to believe seniors when HR already told you? HR's figure should be considered official. Anyways, the amount will be mentioned in the service agreement so dont worry about it right now.

i have completed my infy training in mainframe stream.i am not happy with my posting location.so what are the chances of getting to a good cmpny due to infy training after quiting infosys?..i would also like to know the bond money to pay after quitting the infosys..with and without training certificate..i would also like to know how do they go through exit procedures..

It depends on luck if you just try to apply elsewhere based on only infy training and no working experience. Salary will almost certainly be lower than what you make right now at Infosys. It can be a bit lower to much lower. About the bond money and all, you can read your service agreement. And for exit procedure, you can contact any HR manager.

It is sometimes like that but mostly your joining date will be communicated to you in a different email/letter later on.

i got placed in infy on dec 21st.. wen they announced the results, they said tat we wud get our call letter in july.. but, they didnt mention anything abt the offer letter..
bt, all my frnz who got placed in othr companies hav got their offer letters..
nw my ques is, wil infy offer any offer letter at all, if so wen wud it be given?

Offer letter will surely come. Call letter is the same as offer letter and as they have mentioned july, you can wait till that time. Even if there is a delay, dont worry about it, it will surely come.

Hi chintan... The offer letter is just a confirmation that a candidate has been placed in the company and the call letter contains the actual DOJ...
But as i have read some where that the DOJ will reach the candidate well before 2 months...
Is is so? If not pls explain what does both letters actually contain?

Offer letter contains salary details and that they intend to hire you. DOJ may also be sent by an email. So there is nothing like a special "call letter".
Anyways, dont get too confused by call letter or offer letter. They are just names and doesnt make a difference what you name it.
